This SoBe tile design was inspired by a geometric floor tile in a chic Miami Beach boutique hotel lobby. South Beach may be a small island just off Miami, Florida, but it's a very international city full of style and high energy. The influences of some of the greatest 20th century and midcentury modern designers have left a playful mark on SoBe, so we tried to put that flair and fun into this ceiling tile design.
The overlapping curves of our SoBe tiles create a rhythmic geometry that is engaging and impactful. This design gives a nod to the iconic midcentury designer Verner Panton while adding a future forward edge, perfect for a modern and eye-catching ceiling-scape. You can have all of SoBe face the same way or alternate them in and out with half of the tiles facing in opposite directions, resulting in a deep 3-D look. Directional multi color lighting will really make this design pop! Facing one of the facets towards a window is a great way to give the kind of contrast that works really well with this design.

Cleanable
Unlike mineral fiber ceiling tiles, Brutal Ceiling tiles are anti-bacterial and non- porous. Since it is an exterior grade PVC, it can be cleaned with any home cleaning product or antiviral disinfectants to ensure surfaces are safe.
Fire Sprinklers:
When installing BRUTAL tiles in ceilings with sprinkler systems, cut the hole at least 1/4" diameter larger than the sprinkler escutcheon/trim (leaving a visible 1/8" gap around the edge). This allows the tile to fall away from the ceiling during a fire and not foul the sprinkler system.

If gluing up, or you prefer the look in the grid of all of the tiles facing down, just order Glue up. The tiles have a satin finish on the convex side and a matte finish on the other. Are Brutal tiles compatible with standard ceiling grids?
Our designs are only intended to work with the standard 15/16" wide ceiling grid, the norm in most drop ceilings today. Some of our tiles can also be glued to a flat surface.
How are these superior to regular drop ceilings?
Brutal's line of geometric tiles redefine the drop ceiling with sculptural PVC ceiling tiles that are not only stylish, but functional. They are easy to sanitize in our more microbial conscious age, unlike traditional acoustic tiles that sag and stain from moisture.
Which Brutal tiles can be glued up?
Not all Brutal tiles work with Glue-Up, if this is needed we recommend using our Globen, Europa or SoBe tiles which will lay flat for gluing on your ceiling or wall.
To prep tiles for painting, first clean the surface with soap and water, or water with TSP and rinse. No need to scuff or sand.

Which Brutal tiles can accommodate lighting?
Blox, Brasilia, Sobe, Europa, and Globen can all have installed lights provided that proper procedures are used.
The example lighting photos we show use a 7 1/2" diameter LED light. For reference, the distance across the center bowl of Globen is 11 inches.
We advise that the lights must be supported from above the suspended ceiling, as the tiles should not support any weight, since that would cause distortion and lifting around the edges. Some experimentation will be necessary to appropriately hang a lighting fixture. For more on lighting, Click here.
Installing BRUTAL Tiles is Easy!
Drop In
Brutal tiles are very light and flexible. They don't crack and break and shower you with dust. They are super easy to lift up into a Standard 15/16" wide ceiling grid.
Install your Brutal tiles in the same direction for a uniform look, or rotate and flip them to create a captivating ceiling landscape.
Glue Up
Not all Brutal tiles work with Glue-Up, if this is needed we recommend using our Globen, Europa and SoBe tiles which will lay flat for gluing on your ceiling or wall.
Globen, Europa and SoBe tiles can be easily glued to any flat smooth substrate.
Lighting
The recessed round shape of our Globen tiles naturally lends itself to high-hats and other lighting features. Pre-cut holes through the tiles with a knife or scissors to match the light locations.
All lights should be hung from weight supporting features on the ceiling above the tiles.
